Junior libero Johanna Bertini had 10 digs for ECU. Setter Heidi Krug ran the offense with 31 assists.
Memphis jumped out to a 10-6 lead in the first game. ECU managed to cut the lead to 15-11, but the Tigers put on a 15-9 run to wrap up the set 30-19.
Memphis hit .556 while holding the ECU to a .208 clip on its way to a 30-22 win.
ECU opened the third set with a 5-3 advantage, but a 5-0 spurt gave Memphis a 10-7 lead. Memphis finished the contest with a 17-9 run to claim the match. ECU hit .147 in the game, while Memphis had a .529 hitting clip.
Liford finished the match hitting .538 with just one error in 26 swings, while senior Tiara Gilkey was the only other Memphis player to reach double figures with 10. Melissa Nance and Nellans each recorded nine kills for Memphis. Nance hit .429 and committed just three errors in 14 attacks. Heather Watts set the offense with a match-high 47 assists. Nellans also led the Tigers defensively with a match-high 15 digs.
East Carolina continues its road swing with a trip to Saint Louis Saturday night. ECU faces the Billikens at 8 p.m. (EST).
