Lady Pirate Basketball To Hold Purple - Gold Scrimmage
October 26, 2004 | Women's Basketball
GREENVILLE, N.C. --- The East Carolina women's basketball team will hold its only scrimmage of the preseason in the annual Purple-Gold game in Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 10:30 a.m.
"This will be the only opportunity the fans will have to get a glimpse of this team before the season starts," said Head Baskeball Coach Sharon Baldwin-Tener. "I have been extremely pleased with the preseason conditioning and practices to this point. The veterans have raised the bar and the newcomers are going to be able to fit in perfectly. Our style of play will continue to be more up-tempo and I believe will be more enjoyable for the fans to watch."
The scrimmage is a first of three Pirate athletic events to be held on Saturday followed by the men's basketball team scrimmage session at 12:30 p.m. leading up to the 3 p.m. kick off of the ECU/ Army football game at Dowdy Ficklen Stadium.
Fans will have the opportunity to purchase season tickets, and representatives from the ECU Athletic Department will be on site to answer questions regarding tickets.
ECU athletic officials have also announced that the Feb. 13 game at home against Louisville will be televised by WITN-TV 7. Voice of the Pirates Jeff Charles and Billy Weaver will call all the action starting at 2 p.m.
"This game will be a great re-match from a year ago," stated Baldwin-Tener. "We came up a little short in overtime late in the season. I look for this to be another exciting game for our team."
The Lady Pirates will kick off the 2004-05 season at home against Duquesne inside Williams Arena with a 7 p.m. tip scheduled.
