
East Carolina University Celebrates Military Appreciation Day

East Carolina University will celebrate Military Appreciation Day this Saturday, October 30th as the Pirates play host to Army at 3pm in Dowdy Ficklen Stadium in a Conference USA match-up. There is a full slate of events scheduled for the weekend as part of the military festivities. ECU Athletics is offering specially priced tickets of $10 to all past and present military members and their immediate families. Tickets are available on participating military bases or at the ECU Athletic Ticket Office by calling 1-800-DIAL-ECU (in NC).
The Military festivities kick off on Friday as the Army College Tour visits Wright Plaza on the campus of ECU. The tour includes a trailer exhibit with climbing wall, simulator ride, dog tag machine and other exciting features. Saturday's pre-game activities include military displays around the stadium, recognition of military dignitaries, a special flag presentation and an Apache Helicopter flyover. Performing at halftime of the game will be the Army's premier a cappella group, the 82nd Airborne All American Chorus.
"We are very excited to host Military Appreciation day to recognize and honor the sacrifices of all the members of our Armed Forces and their families," said ECU Athletic Director Terry Holland. In addition to the festivities, the first 10,000 into the game will receive a miniature American Flag.
