November 01, 2004 | Football
Pinkney accounted for 298 yards of total offense, which included a 26-of-36 passing day, and three of East Carolina's five touchdowns to lead the Pirates to a 38-28 win over the Black Knights. He matched career-high totals in pass completions (26) and touchdowns (three) while turning in his second-best passing yardage total ever (285) against Army to guide ECU to its second straight home victory.
After completing 17-of-24 passes for 138 yards in the opening half, Pinkney engineered a 31-point second half performance with 147 air yards on 9-of-12 completions. With his three scoring tosses, he extended his streak of consecutive games with a TD pass to seven, the longest span by a Pirate signal-caller since David Garrard completed a scoring strike in eight straight contests in 2001. In addition, his 285-yard total was his seventh-straight triple-digit passing effort ? the longest streak by an ECU quarterback since the 2000 and 2001 seasons
Pinkney, who also booked a career-long rush of 16 yards against Army, will enter the Houston game Nov. 6 with an active streak of 93 straight pass attempts without an interception (1 vs. Louisville, 23 vs. Tulane, 33 vs. Southern Miss and 36 vs. Army).
So far this season, Pinkney has completed 126-of-228 passes for 1,446 yards and 12 touchdowns. He currently stands 29th nationally in pass completions per game (18.0).
