
Lady Pirates Face Nationally Ranked Houston On Senior Day

GREENVILLE, N.C. -- The East Carolina women's basketball team will look to snap a five-game Conference USA losing skid as it prepares to host nationally ranked (No. 22) Houston Sunday, Feb. 15 in Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum with a 2 p.m. tipoff scheduled.
The Lady Pirates (14-9, 5-5) are looking to bounce back from a heart breaking quadruple overtime loss to No. 22 TCU (125-119) Friday night. In what was arguably the best women's game at Minges Arena, the Lady Pirates scored a school record 119 points, behind the awesome play of senior Courtney Willis.
Willis had a career night led five Lady Pirates in double-figures, netting 40 points and bringing down 21 rebounds. She also set career-highs in free throws made (18), also a C-USA single game record, and free throws attempted (22).
Jennifer Jackson scored 29 points and nine rebounds, while Keisha Anthony, Viola Cooper and Alisha Bishop each added 15 points. Anthony was two assists away from a triple-double, as she recorded a career-high 15 rebounds.
Houston (20-3, 9-1) defeated Charlotte 62-58 Friday night to stay in a first place tie with DePaul atop Conference USA. The Cougars have won 15 of its last 16 games and are led by senior guard Chandi Jones. Jones is leading C-USA in scoring with 21.9 points a game while grabbing 5.8 rebounds.
This will mark the third meeting between the two schools with Houston holding a 2-0 overall advantage. The two teams last met at Hoflheinz Pavilion last year with the Cougars walking away with a 90-79 win.
ECU Athletics has announced three ticket promotions for the Lady Pirates' home finale against Houston starting at 1 p.m. Senior Citizen Day allows all senior citizens (62 years or older) to receive free admission.
Youth League Day presents an opportunity to any youth who wears a recreation, youth, or church league jersey to receive free admission when accompanied by an adult.
In addition, all Girl Scouts wearing their uniform will receive a free ticket to the game on Girl Scout Day.
This game as been designated as senior day, and it will be the final time that seniors Alisha Bishop, Angela Sye and Courtney Willis will play in Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.
