
Pirates Lead Horned Frogs From Start to Finish

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- Derrick Wiley scored 23 points, and Erroyl Bing had 18 points and 15 rebounds in East Carolina's 75-70 win over TCU on Saturday.
Belton Rivers scored 16 points for the Pirates (11-12, 3-10 Conference USA), who never trailed in the game.
Corey Santee led the Horned Frogs (10-13, 6-6) with 18 points. Marcus Shropshire added 16 points, Nucleus Smith had 13 and Chudi Chinweze added 12.
East Carolina led by as much as 15 points in the first half when Bing's 3-pointer made it 46-31 with a minute before the break. Shropshire scored on a 3-pointer of his own to narrow the score to 46-34 at halftime.
The Pirates kept the lead in double digits for much of the second half. But Santee hit one shot from the line at 7:48, then scored on a layup about a minute later to make the score 67-56, starting a 16-8 run that cut East Carolina's lead to 5 at the final buzzer.
