
Charlotte Keeps Lady Pirates Reeling

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte 49ers women's basketball team finished off its regular season with a 78-48 win over East Carolina, Friday night at Halton Arena.
Charlotte (15-12, 8-6 C-USA) got off to a strong start, led by Peaches Harris, who scored eight of the team's first 11 points. She finished the night with 10 points with the other two coming on free throws during a 23-4 Niners run in the first half that broke the game open.
Courtney Williams started that run with a pair of free throws at the 13:16 mark to put the 49ers in front, 13-8. East Carolina (14-13, 5-9 C-USA) scored just four points over the next nine minutes and found itself behind 34-12 by the time a Pam Brown field goal capped it with 4:17 to play. Brown and LaShanta Johnson led the team with five points each during th run. The Niners led at halftime, 39-21.
Charlotte never let up in the second half, going ahead by as many as 34, 64-30, on a Sakellie Daniels three-pointer with 8:05 to play.
ECU's normally high-scoring tandem of Jennifer Jackson and Courtney Willis combined to score just 11 points for the Pirates, including a team-best nine from Willis.
