April 20, 2004 | Men's Basketball
A product of Abraham Clark High School (Roselle, N.J.), Hart averaged 25 points, 14 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game to lead his team to its third consecutive appearance in the state championship game. Hart was a part of back-to-back state championship teams during his sophomore and junior seasons, leading his team to a 50-6 record.
"We are very pleased to have received this commitment from Jonathan," stated Herrion. "He is an extremely athletic wing player with good size, that we think has a chance to be a really good player."
Hart earned conference player of the year accolades this past season and was a three-time all-conference selection. He is one of just seven players to score over 1,000 points in Clark High history.
"I think he is going to be an impact player," said Clark High head coach Stan Kokie. "He is a versatile athlete that can absolutely sky. He has one of the best releases I've ever seen and I believe he will be an outstanding wing-player in Conference USA."
In the fall, ECU announced the signing of a pair of frontcourt players: Charles Bronson (6-10, 220, Lutheran High/Philadelphia, Penn.) and Mike Castro (6-8, 235, Allegany College/Allegany, Md).
