Rimpf Drafted By Baltimore In Seventh Round
April 25, 2004 | Football
A native of Raleigh, Rimpf was a three-time first team All-Conference USA selection and received honorable mention All-America honors twice. Rimpf anchored an offensive line that paved the way for three 1,000-yard rushers.
Rimpf earned a reputation as one of the nation's top lineman as a sophomore following blocking assignment performances against eventual NFL first round draft picks Julius Peppers (Carolina Panthers) and Dwight Freeney (Indianapolis Colts). That season he was the leader of an offensive line that helped the Pirates' rushing offense rank 25th nationally.
He is just the sixth ECU offensive lineman to be drafted and first since the New York Jets took Lamont Burns in the fifth round of the 1997 draft. The Pirates have had at least one player chosen in 11 of the past 15 drafts.
