August 19, 2004 | Football
The Watch List will be narrowed to 10 semifinalists on Thursday, Oct. 14, and trimmed down to three via a national teleconference with the players, coaches and members of the media, and Butkus Award officials on Thursday, Nov. 11.
Moore was also recently named to the Lombardi Award Watch List, which is annually presented to the nation's top lineman on either side of the ball or a linebacker.
Moore ranked second in Conference USA and the nation averaging 13.5 tackles a game for the Pirates last season. Moore, who earned second-team All C-USA honors last season, tied a league record with a 24-tackle performance in the 2003 season-opener vs. Cincinnati.
Moore and his teammates open the 2004 season against No. 10 West Virginia in Morgantown on Sept. 4. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
