Cross Country Teams Opened Season At Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. --- The East Carolina men's cross country team placed fourth and the women's team finished fifth at the Wake Forest Invitational on Saturday. North Carolina, Wake Forest and Charlotte placed one, two and three in both the men and women's races, which were held on the Wake Forest, cross country trails.
Matt Hanlon was the Pirates' top finisher on the men's side. Hanlon placed 11th overall with a time of 15:34. Senior Kyle MacKenzie was just behind Hanlon with a time of 15:42.
Senior Johanna Allen was the Pirates' top finisher on the ladies' side. She placed eighth with a time of 18:00. Jessica Collins finished two spots behind Allen in 20th position with a time of 18:45.
ECU will next compete at the Adidas Raleigh Invitational in Cary on Saturday, Sept. 18.
