IRVING, Texas - CSTV Networks will broadcast "Conference USA Basketball Slam," a live special presentation from the 2005 Conference USA Basketball Media Day. The three-hour show will air live on CSTV and online via the official Web sites of CSTV (www.cstv.com ) and Conference USA (www.ConferenceUSA.com) on Tuesday, October 18, beginning at 3:00 p.m. EDT/2:00 p.m. CDT.
This special presentation offers fans an exclusive inside look at Conference USA Basketball. All 12 head men's basketball coaches and all 12 head women's basketball coaches, select men's and women's players and Conference USA commissioner Britton Banowsky will all appear live on-air to preview the 2005-06 basketball seasons.
Held at the Sheraton Grand in Irving, Texas, the Conference USA Basketball Slam will be hosted by CSTV's Seth Davis. This will be the first time that C-USA's Basketball Media Day will have live national television coverage. The C-USA Football Media Day in August enjoyed well-received live national television exposure.
"The live national coverage of our Basketball Media Day event will provide tremendous exposure for our coaches, players and our men's and women's basketball programs," said Banowsky. "CSTV continues to bring our fans and alumni closer to the teams, coaches and players and we are pleased that people across the nation will be able to be a part of this event as we prepare for a great basketball season."
Conference USA is in the first year of a six-year agreement to televise men's and women's basketball on College Sports Television (CSTV). The agreement with CSTV is comprehensive in nature and also includes significant national and regional exposure for football and all other Conference USA sports. CSTV Networks Inc. is the leading digital sports media company, connecting more fans to more college sports than any other company. The many platforms for programming distribution include CSTV: College Sports TV, televising regular-season and championship events for 35 men's and women's college sports; CSTV.com and its network of nearly 250 official athletic sites; CSTV All Access, online and pay-per-view subscription services providing live audio and video of more than 6,000 events annually; as well as satellite television and radio, in-flight entertainment, wireless networks and more.
"CSTV's unprecedented and innovative coverage on-air and on CSTV.com brings Media Day to a new level" said Tim Pernetti, Senior VP, Programming and Talent for CSTV.
Conference USA men's and women's basketball will be featured prominently on CSTV during the upcoming season. Beginning in January, C-USA Men's Basketball will have a nationally-televised game each Wednesday and Saturday, while C-USA Women's Basketball will begin a schedule of games that will air predominantly on Sunday afternoons on the network.
