Greenville, N.C. - Freshman guard Gabriela Husarova led the way for the "Purple" team in a 35-26 victory in the intrasquad Purple-Gold scrimmage held during Homecoming festivities at Minges Coliseum Saturday morning.
Husarova contributed a game-high 14 points while connecting on 6-of-10 shots from the floor including 2-of-3 from three-point range. "Purple" teammate and fellow freshman Jasmine Young dished out eight assists while scoring four points to prove as a solid one-two punch in the lineup.
The "Gold" team was led by JuCo transfer and first-year Lady Pirate Cherie Mills who scored 10 points in the contest. Freshman LaCoya Terry also added eight points in a balanced attack for the "Gold".
"I thought that the scrimmage was much better in the second half than in the first," said Assistant Coach Chrissy Roberts. "We could have played much better throughout, but this is a good indication that we need to work on certain aspects of our game.
