Greenville, N.C.--The East Carolina Lady Pirates basketball team used Saturday's Homecoming festivities prior to the football game to give fans a preview of what the 2005-06 season holds.
On the other hand, head coach Sharon Baldwin-Tener used the day as part of her recovery following the birth of her and husband Matt's second child, Samantha Elaine, which arrived Friday.
Both the team and its coach returned to practice Monday following the weekend.
"It is really good to be back out here," Baldwin-Tener said following the practice session. "It is good for me mentally to get back out here after the pregnancy. That way we can concentrate on the season."
In the Purple-Gold intrasquad game, the play of freshman guard Gabriela Husarova led the way for the "Purple" team in a 35-26 victory.
Following an off day Tuesday, the Lady Pirates will return to the floor Wednesday in preparation for an exhibition game which they host against Berry College Tuesday, Nov. 8 beginning at 7 p.m. at Minges Coliseum.
