IRVING, Texas -- East Carolina senior forward Corey Rouse has been named the Conference USA Player-of-the-Week league officials announced on Monday. Rouse earns the first weekly honor of his career after recording his 12th career double-double with 35 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Pirates to an 86-75 victory over North Carolina A&T on Friday.
Both of his point and rebound totals were career-high, as were his performances from the field (14-of-18) and from the free throw line (7-of-12).
Rouse became the first ECU player to score 30 points in a game since Garrett Blackwelder dropped 30 on George Mason on January 17, 2000. And, his 35 points were the most scored by an ECU player since Steve Richardson poured in 36 against Navy in 1990.
Rouse was the top rebounder in Conference USA during the 2004-05 season, averaging 10.2 boards per game.
