
Pirates Fall To UCF, 5-0

ORLANDO, Fla. - The East Carolina men's soccer team fell to UCF Friday night, 5-0 at the UCF Soccer Complex.
The Pirates (0-14-1, 0-8-0) could not get anything going offensively has the recorded seven shots, four on goal coming away with nothing.
Freshman defender Jake Howard put UCF (7-7-1, 2-5-1) on the board in the 29th minute when he took a shot from 25 yards out that skipped under ECU goalkeeper Zachery Roszel (seven saves). The Golden Knights would take the 1-0 lead into the intermission after dominating the first half with an 8-2 advantage in shots.
Rafael Teixeira scored the first of his two goals on a bullet from 30 yards out in the 54th minute then added the second nearly identical tally seven minutes later from the same angle with an assist to sophomore Adham Rashwan (Palm Beach Gardens HS).
Teixeira returned the favor feeding the serve off a corner kick to Rashwan for a score in the 62nd minute.
The hosts kept the Pirates without a shot on goal until the 48th minutes when UCF senior keeper Ryan McIntosh (Cooper City/St. Thomas Aquinas HS) denied an attempt by forward Shawn Harris.
The Pirates will close out the 2005 season on Sunday, Nov. 6 when they face Florida International.
