GREENVILLE, N.C. -- East Carolina University head women's basketball coach Sharon Baldwin-Tener announced today the signing of Jessica Honesty (Chantilly, Va.) to a National Letter of Intent for the 2005-06 season.
Honesty, a 5-9 guard from Westfield High School, averaged 14 points, five rebounds and two assists per game during her senior campaign. She was named first-team all-district, second-team all-region, selected to the NVWBCA All-Star team and was named to the Concorde District all-tournament team, despite only playing 12 games after suffering an injury during the preseason.
As a junior, Honesty earned first-team all-district and all-region honors after averaging 15 points and four rebounds a game. She was also selected to the Concorde District and Northern Region all-tournament teams.
"We are very excited about Jessica joining the Lady Pirates next season," said Baldwin-Tener. "She is a big, athletic guard who will give us some more versatility at the guard position. Jessica is very effective inside and outside of the paint. She can hit the three and plays a lot bigger than her size, while mixing it up underneath."
The signing of Honesty brings the total number of 2005-06 signees to six. During the early signing period, Baldwin-Tener announced that Erica Gilley (Lexington, N.C.), Impris Manning (Thomasville, N.C.), Cherie Mills (Ayden, N.C.), Alicia Person (Henderson, N.C.) and Jessica Slack (Thornville, Ohio) all inked National Letters of Intent.
