Cook Granted Release To Transfer

GREENVILLE, N.C. ? East Carolina University guard Mike Cook has been granted a release from his scholarship, head coach Ricky Stokes announced Monday. Cook has not indicated where he will transfer.
"We certainly support Mike's decision to do what he feels is in his best interest," said Stokes. "He wants to be in a situation where he is close to family and friends. We wish him nothing but the best."
A native of Philadelphia, he averaged 12.8 points per game during his two seasons at ECU. Cook was the team's leading scorer last season as a sophomore, averaging 15.0 points per game. As a rookie, he tallied 10.4 points per game and earned All-Conference USA Freshman Team honors.
