GREENVILLE, N.C. --- Freshmen Nick Mattone and Jeff Robinson have been added to the 2005-06 East Carolina men's basketball roster as non-scholarship walk-ons announced first-year head coach Ricky Stokes Tuesday. The addition of Mattone and Robinson completes Stokes' first recruiting class at ECU with seven players completing this year's 17-man roster.
Mattone, a 6-4 guard from Forestdale, Mass., averaged 17.5 points per game at IMG Academy in Tampa a year ago. Prior to spending last year at the Florida prep school, he attended St. Andrews High School in Barrington, R.I., where he led his team to a conference championship as junior and averaged 15 ppg as a senior. During his final three years of high school, Mattone led St. Andrews to an overall record of 77-21.
Robinson, a 6-3 guard from Lisle, Ill., averaged 21.2 ppg and was named second-team all-state by the Chicago Sun Times as a senior leading his team to 25-7 overall record and a sectional championship.
