
ECU Joins In Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts

GREENVILLE, N.C. --- In support of Conference USA's recently established Relief Fund to assist those affected and relocated by the Hurricane Katrina, East Carolina University will be dispersing information cards in regards to assisting its sister institutions, Southern Miss and Tulane, as fans pass through the turnstiles at Saturday's season opener against Duke. Information cards will include where monetary donations can be sent. Resources will also be sent to the American Red Cross to Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama communities in need.
Information cards will be provided complementary of University Printing and Graphics, while the ECU Volunteer Center will be providing assistance with the distribution of the cards.
Additionally, the ECU Alumni Association and the American Red Cross have teamed to collect donations to the Hurricane Relief effort prior to the game. The local chapter of the American Red Cross will be collecting monetary gifts at the ECU Alumni Association tent located outside Gate 2 of Minges Coliseum.
"It is extremely important for us to support our fellow conference schools through the C-USA Relief Fund and the American Red Cross," said ECU Director of Athletics Terry Holland. " I believe it is much more effective to supply fans with the pertinent information and allow them to donate in such a way that is comfortable for them."
Students, student-athletes, coaches, faculty and administrators from both Tulane and Southern Miss were evacuated from their communities this past week and have been forced to relocate to various parts of the country for an indefinite period of time.
Those wishing to donate to the C-USA Relief Fund should make their checks payable to "C-USA Relief Fund." All donations are 100 percent tax deductible and should be sent to:
