
Pirates Win Fifth Straight With 3-0 Win Over Camels

BUIES CREEK, N.C.- Jaime Bevan and Pam Ferris combined on nearly half of the team's kills as East Carolina swept Campbell, 3-0, Tuesday at Carter Gym. Ferris led the Pirates with 15 kills while Bevan picked up 12 as ECU won their fifth straight match to improve to 8-4 on the season.
Bevan led the Pirates hitting .458, committing only one error on 24 attack attempts while also assisting on three blocks on the defensive end. Ferris added seven digs and two service aces to her 15 kills. Mignon Dubenion also finished with double-digit kills, tallying 10 on 20 attempts. Dubenion also added eight digs, a solo block and a block assist. Trish Monroe paced ECU defensively with 19 digs while Erica Wilson added nine on the night. Heidi Krug led the Pirate offense, collecting 48 assists while Wilson added three.
Campbell (6-11) was led by Tabitha Turner and Rachel Templin offensively. Turner led the Camels in kills (15) and attack percentage (.355) while Templin recorded 12 kills on a team-high 33 attempts. Sarah Dillon and Jessica Gleba combined on setting up the Camel offense with 23 and 14 assists respectively. Crystal Sieber led the Campbell defense with 13 digs while Sarah Dillon picked up 11. Katie Stallings, who finished with nine kills on the night, led the Camel defense with one solo block and seven block assists.
Despite being out-hit .197-to-.190, ECU was able to win in three games, 30-27, 30-28, 36-24. The Pirates finished with 56 kills to Campbell's 49 while ECU also collected 12 more digs than the Camels.
The Pirates will conclude their 12-match road trip Friday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. in Huntington, W.Va. against Marshall before finally returning home to host the Thundering Herd Sunday, Oct. 2. The match, ECU's first home match since the season-opener on Aug. 27, is set for 1 p.m. inside Minges Coliseum.
