HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The East Carolina volleyball squad fell to Marshall 3-0 (30-18, 33-31, 30-26) Saturday evening in the final match of the regular season. The Pirates enter the C-USA Championships with a 19-11 record, 10-6 in C-USA. Marshall ended the regular season with a 20-10 mark, 12-4 in C-USA.
Kelly Anne Billingy tallied a match-high 30 kills, hitting .462 on the night, while adding eight digs. Uche Ndubisi and Stephanie Cahill also recorded double-figure kills, with 12 and 11 respectively. Cahill added 11 digs for the double-double.
Mignon Dubenion led the Pirates with 11 kills while Kelley Wernert added 10 kills and seven digs. Setter Heidi Krug tallied 14 assists on the night. Trish Monroe was the Pirates' top defender, with 14 digs.
East Carolina will travel to Houston, Texas for the 2006 Conference USA Championships this coming weekend. The Pirates will have to wait until Sunday night to find out who they will play in the opening round.
