After opening the season with an 86-67 win at home over Morgan State on Saturday, East Carolina will look to go 2-0 on the young season as it travels to Richmond for a game against its former CAA rival on Tuesday night.
It is Richmond's season-opnener.
Five players scored double figures in the Pirates' season-opening victory led by junior college transfer Darrell Jenkins, who tossed in a game-high 22 points in his ECU debut. Jenkins also handed out 11 assists in the contest. Fellow junior college transfer Cory Farmer came off the bench to score 11 second half points, while Kinston native Jeremy Ingram netted 13 points off the bench.
Freshmen starters Gabe Blair and John Fields also tallied double figures. Blair finished with 13 points to go along with a team-high eight rebounds, while Fields added 11 points and blocked three shots. Six players grabbed at least four rebounds, but with the Pirates shooting nearly 52 percent from the floor rebounds were at a premium.
ECU will be looking to snap a 13-game road losing streak at Richmond and earn its first overall road victory since defeating Wofford in Spartanburg, S.C. on November 26 last year.
Richmond is coached by Chris Mooney, who is in his second year with the Spiders. Ten of the 12 players listed on the Spiders' roster are either freshmen or sophomore.
