GREENVILLE, N.C.-- The East Carolina women's basketball team is making its final preseason preparations for the Nov. 12 season opener against former CAA foe James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va.
"It is hard to believe the season begins in a week because it seems like time has flown by," head coach Sharon Baldwin-Tener said. "We are making sure that we have the basic things we need to have to win basketball games at this point. We may put in some more offensive and defensive plays as the season goes on.
"We are a lot farther along this year than we were at this point last season. It has really helped to have so many returning players."
The Lady Pirates compiled a 17-12 record last year, the programs best finish since the 1991-92 season. East Carolina returns nine letterwinners and four starters, including C-USA Co-Freshman-of-the-Year Jasmine Young and second team all-conference player Cherie Mills. The Lady Pirates will play the first five games of the season on the road before hosting Florida A&M at Minges Coliseum on Nov. 26 in the team's home opener.
