
ECU's Roach Named To Academic All-America District Team

GREENVILLE, N.C. -East Carolina senior Kevin Roach (Williamston, N.C.) has been named to the first-team 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Football District III University Division Team, announced today by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Roach, a graduate student in accounting, is a four-time Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll and ECU Director of Athletics Honor Roll recipient (2002-06), while compiling an overall GPA of 3.44.
To be eligible for the prestigious award, a player must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 in the classroom and be a starter or key reserve on the field.
Roach has 58 career receptions for 716 yards (12.3 ypc) with a pair of touchdowns in 43 career games.
On the season, Roach ranks fourth on the team in receiving yards (247) and receptions (17). Ten of his 17 receptions have come for 10 or more yards and five have gone for 20 or more yards. His lone score of the year came in the season opener against Navy on a 13-yard pass from James Pinkney in the second quarter.
With his selection to the District III first-team, Roach will now be placed on the national CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot.
