East Carolina Wins 63-59 Battle Over Marshall

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Corey Rouse scored 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, both game highs, to lead East Carolina past Marshall 63-59 on Saturday.

Rouse went 8-of-11 from the field and made all four of his free throws. Sam Hinnant and Courtney Captain each added 13 for the Pirates (8-16, 2-9 Conference USA).

East Carolina had a 33-21 lead at halftime after Marshall (10-14, 3-8) shot just 27.6 percent (8-of-29) from the field, and the Pirates led by as many as 15 in the second half.

East Carolina went 14-of-14 from the free-throw line, while Marshall was only 4-of-6.

Joe Miles scored 19 to lead Marshall, and Mark Patton added 14 points and 10 rebounds.
