ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Josh Peppers led five UCF players in double figures with 17 points as the Knights snapped a two-game losing streak with a 69-49 East Carolina Wednesday.
UCF (11-13, 5-6) opened the second half with a 17-3 run to extend a 10-point halftime lead to 48-24. The Knights led by as many as 27, and East Carolina never got any closer than the final score in the last 10 minutes.
Justin Rose and Anthony Williams had 12 points each for UCF. Mike O'Donnell added 10 points and five assists and Jermaine Taylor came off the bench to score 10 points.
The Pirates (8-17, 2-10), who have lost five of their last six games and 10 of their last 12, committed 16 turnovers.
The Knights had 10 steals. Jeremy Ingram and Sam Hinnant led East Carolina with nine points each. Hinnant hit three 3-pointers in the first 7:07.
UCF held East Carolina without a field goal for a 11:36 stretch in the first half, while the Knights outscored the Pirates 18-4 to take a 29-13 lead.
Jeremy Ingram scored a 3-pointer for East Carolina with 1:17 remaining, and then hit another 3-pointer with 50 seconds left to trim their deficit to 31-21.
UCF held East Carolina to 32 percent (6-for-19) shooting from the floor in the first half, and the Pirates committed 13 turnovers. UCF scored 15 points off those miscues.
