GREENVILLE, N.C. - In addition to marking the finale of an unprecedented five-game homestand, East Carolina's meeting against SMU on Oct. 21 at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium has been selected as the Pirates' 2006 Homecoming contest according to a release of ECU's football game-day designations Friday.
East Carolina will play the first of five consecutive home games on Sept. 16 when it lines up against Memphis in a Conference USA tilt to highlight Family Weekend festivities on campus.
The Pirates will follow with a pair of non-league contests against three-time defending BIG EAST champion West Virginia and Atlantic Coast Conference member Virginia on Sept. 23 and Oct. 7, respectively. ECU will observe Pirate Club Weekend when facing the Mountaineers in a nationally-televised matchup while conducting Hall of Fame and Letterwinners Weekend when the Cavaliers make their first-ever visit to eastern North Carolina two weeks later.
ECU's popular High School Band Day and Academic Success Day will make a return to Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium when the Pirates meet 2005 C-USA champion Tulsa on Oct. 14 before the Mustangs' arrival a week later.
After a pair of road games at Southern Miss and UCF, East Carolina will close out the home portion of its schedule and celebrate Military Appreciation Day and Senior Day when it welcomes Marshall to Greenville Nov. 11.
Game times will be announced at a later date after all television scheduling needs have been determined.
