
Heidi Krug Named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week

IRVING, TEXAS - Tessa Kuykendall of Rice is Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week this week after leading the Owls to an upset of No. 21 Arizona and being named MVP of the Four Points Sheraton Wildcat Classic. Marshall's Christin Bimberg is Setter of the Week after averaging 14.33 assists per game and notching a season-best 68 assists against Miami (OH). East Carolina's Heidi Krug collects the weekly defensive honor as she led the Pirates in digs with 42. Krug also became ECU's all-time leader in assists when she recorded 45 against Charlotte. She now has 3,551 career assists which currently ranks 12th on the C-USA all-time list.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK (9/11)
TESSA KUYKENDALL - Rice
MB, Sr., Brighton, Mich (Mercy)
Kuykendall led the Owls to an upset of No. 21 Arizona on the Wildcats' home court and was named the MVP of the Four Points Sheraton Wildcat Classic. Over the course of the week, she helped Rice to a 3-1 record while averaging 3.28 kpg on .293 hitting and 1.11 bpg. Against McNeese State, she posted one of the best hitting percentages of the year by an Owl hitting .579 (13-2-19). In game five against Arizona, Kuykendall posted four of Rice's seven kills, including two to break a 10-10 tie and put the Owls up for good.
SETTER OF THE WEEK (9/11)
CHRISTIN BIMBERG - Marshall

Bimberg averaged 14.33 assists per game for Marshall and helped her team to a 3-1 record last week. The senior's 68 assists against a tough Miami (OH) squad was a season-best. She also topped the 40-assist mark twice. Against No. 12 Tennessee, Bimberg had 41 assists, four digs and three kills. In addition, she hit .324 (12-14-3) for the week with 14 kills and added five service aces, two solo blocks and three block assists while totaling 22.5 points.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK (9/11)
Heidi Krug - East Carolina

Krug led the Pirates with 42 digs on the week, averaging 3.23 per game. The senior recorded two double-doubles last week, notching 34 assists and 12 digs against North Florida and going for 42 assists and 20 digs versus Penn. The setter also became ECU's all-time leader in assists when she recorded 45 against Charlotte. She now has 3,551 career assists which currently ranks 12th on the C-USA all-time list. Krug averaged 12.15 assists in four games last week. Krug also was strong at the net, tallying one solo block and four block assists for the Pirates.
