Nicole Briggs and Hayley Flynn Top Finishers For ECU

Conway, S.C. - The men's and women's cross country team competed in a meet that was scored as a double dual on Saturday hosted by Coastal Carolina University. After a challenging and hard-fought effort by both squads, the Lady Pirates and men's team finished last in the Coastal Carolina Invite.
For the second consecutive meet, Nicole Briggs had the best time for the women. On the men's side Chris Belfiore finished in 17th place, the highest finisher for the ECU men's team just a split second ahead of Stephen Tausend. Last week, it was Tausend followed by Belfiore.
"The top-two runners on the women side all had better times then they had last week," said head coach Curt Kraft. "The men ran their first 8K after running a 5K at the Seahawk Invitational last week. I think next time they will have a better feeling for everything and improve next week."
The next meet that ECU will participate in will be the Old North State Invite in Greensboro, N.C. On Sept. 30, the Pirates will host the McAlister's Deli Invite at Lake Kristi.
