CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.--The East Carolina volleyball team won its second match in as many tries, defeating Georgetown 3-1 Saturday in the second day of the Jefferson Cup.
The Hoyas (1-4) hit .462 percent in the first game, winning 30-22 before the Pirates won the next three games (30-22, 30-27, 30-20) to win the match.
Junior Kelley Wernert tallied 18 kills and 14 digs to lead ECU while junior Mignon Dubenion added 16 kills and a career-tying seven blocks. Senior Jaime Bevan registered 13 kills and five total blocks in the win.
Jessica Buffum led the Hoyas with 19 kills and 13 digs. Jessica Hardy added 17 kills while Katie Nulty recorded 16 digs.
The Pirates will face tournament host Virginia tonight at 7 p.m. in the final match of the Jefferson Cup.
