GREENSBORO, N.C. - The East Carolina women's cross country team competed at the Old North State Invite at Hagan Stoke Park and finished in third place, beating Winston-Salem State. and N.C. A&T State. ECU finished with 68 points, trailing both Elon (33) and High Point (31).
For the third consecutive week, Nicole Briggs was the lead runner for the Lady Pirates squad. Her time of 19:24:00 placed her 9th overall. Danielle Fetty, Samantha Lichtner and Jennifer White finished 14th-16th, helping the Pirates finish in the middle of the pack as a team.
"We ran the best we have all season," said head coach Curt Kraft. "We ran together as a pack and it really helped us."
ECU will host their first meet of the season on Saturday at Lake Kristi for the McAlister's Deli Invite. The woman will start at 9 a.m. while the men will take-off at 9:45 a.m.
