CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The East Carolina volleyball team fell to North Florida 3-0 in first round action of the Comfort Suites Invitational hosted by Charlotte.
The Ospreys won in three straight games, 30-22, 30-24, 20-25. With the win, UNF improves to 5-3 on the year while the Pirates fall to 4-4.
North Florida had three players with double figure kills, with Amy Stroder leading the way with 15. Maegan Weisert, 14 kills and 11 digs, and Emily Kohler, 10 kills and 10 digs, each collected double-doubles in the win.
Offensively, the Pirates were led by Kelley Wernert who had 12 kills in the match. Mignon Dubenion added 10 kills. Trish Monroe led ECU on the defensive end, with 13 digs. Heidi Krug is now just 22 assists away from becoming the all-time assists leader, as she tallied 34 assists on the match.
The Comfort Suites Invitational continues on Saturday with the Pirates facing host Charlotte in a 12:30 p.m. match and will play Penn at 5:00 p.m.
