GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina University sophomore guard Sam Hinnant sustained an injury to his left leg and will be sidelined for four-to-eight weeks.
The injury occurred in practice on Tuesday night, but Hinnant still managed to play six minutes during the first half against Tulsa on Wednesday. However he was unable to continue after halftime.
Hinnant, an All-Conference USA Freshman Team performer last season, was averaging 4.8 points per game prior to his injury. After scoring double figures just once in the first 10 games, he had scored double digits twice in the last five games, including a team-high 13 at Wake Forest.
East Carolina hosts Rice on Saturday at 7 p.m. EST in its next game.
