GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's basketball team is making its final preseason preparations for the Nov. 11 season opener against Presbyterian Sunday afternoon at Minges Coliseum.
The Lady Pirates are looking for their third-straight winning season, coming off a 19-14 season in 2006-07, capped off by winning the 2007 Conference USA Tournament Title. ECU looks to improve on its program best 11 league wins this season, as it returns four starters and seven letterwinners from a year ago.
In other news of note, freshman Tiahana Bowens and sophomore Shana Franks have been suspended for one game due to a violation of team policy and will sit out the Lady Pirates' season opener against Presbyterian.
On a more positive note, sophomore Jessica Honesty has rejoined the Lady Pirate program. The Chantilly, Va. native who was not on the squad last season will wear number 24 this year.
The Lady Pirates' Dec. 9 contest against North Carolina State has been moved to 1:00 p.m. and will be aired on WITN-TV locally in Greenville.
