CLINTON, S.C. - Led by Nicole Days' career-best 15 rebounds and 11 points, the East Carolina women's basketball team defeated Presbyterian 76-53 Tuesday evening at the Templeton Center. The win puts ECU at 5-5 on the year while the Blue Hose fall to 1-10 on the season.

Shuanda Ashford's jumper tied the game at 8-8 before Katlin Moore put PC back on top, 10-8. After changing leads four times over the next three minutes, it was Jasmine Young's three-point play at the 13:22 mark that put the Lady Pirates up 16-13, a lead they would not give up again. Young's three pointer with 11:41 remaining sparked a 12-2 run, extending ECU's lead to 11, 28-17, with 9:03 on the clock. Allison Spivey's trey triggered another Lady Pirate rally, this time a 7-0 run, putting ECU up by 16 with under five minutes remaining in the opening half. PC's Sharie Hopkins layup with under a minute to play in the half pulled the Blue Hose within eight points, but Tiahana Bowen's bucket with 26 seconds to play gave the Lady Pirates the ten point, 40-30 lead at the break.
The second half was all ECU, as the Lady Pirates opened the half on a 5-0 run, all coming from Young. After back-to-back baskets by the Blue Hose to cut the ECU lead back down to ten, Young sparked a 15-3 run by East Carolina, extending its lead out to 24, 62-38, with 8:19 remaining in the contest. PC ended its five minute scoring drought with a Chelsea Wright jumper at the 7:15 mark. Lea Smith's basket cut the Lady Pirate lead down to 20, 62-42, with 6:15 on the clock.
