GREENVILLE, N.C. - Joliet Catholic Academy (Ill.) standout Briana Fleener has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to join the East Carolina volleyball team in 2008, according to an announcement by head coach Chris Rushing Thursday.
The middle blocker was named to the East Suburban Catholic All-Conference Team in her recently completed senior season. As a result, her teammates named her the most improved player on the team as she led the Angels to a 9-1 league record.
"I am extremely pleased that Briana became an ECU Pirate this week," Rushing said. "She is already a very big presence at the net and has a lot of room to become a better player. She has a tremendous positive outlook on life and volleyball that will be infectious for all of us. Her work ethic is second to none. The ECU community will definitely grow to value her personality and abilities."
The Pirates finished the season by advancing to the quarterfinals of the Conference USA Tournament for the second time in three years.
