GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina baseball team made its debut in the national collegiate baseball polls for the 2007 season Monday. ECU is ranked No. 25 by Baseball America and No. 27 by Collegiate Baseball and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
Following an impressive series sweep over then No. 7 Cal State Fullerton, the Pirates (11-6) find themselves nationally-ranked for the first time since March 15, 2005 when they garnered a No. 25 ranking by Baseball America and No. 29 in the Collegiate Baseball polls.
The Pirates have won nine of their last 10 games claiming the ECU Invitational and Keith LeClair Classic titles, including a win over then No. 12 Pepperdine, which is ranked 11th (BA) and 13th (CB) in this week's poll. The lone loss in their last ten contests came at the hands of in-state rival N.C. State, 5-4, in 10 innings.
ECU will continue its 21-game homestand this week when it welcomes Radford for a pair of midweek games on Tuesday and Wednesday, before hosting Big Ten conference member Michigan in a three game series.
