GREENVILLE, N.C. -- East Carolina University head women's basketball coach Sharon Baldwin-Tener announced today the signing of Kimberly Gay (Eastman, Ga.) to a National Letter of Intent for the 2007-08 season.
A 6-2 forward from Dodge County High School, Gay averaged 21 points, 12 rebounds, three steals and three blocks per game during her senior campaign. She was named to the All-Middle Georgia team and earned first-team All-State honors after leading Dodge County to a 22-7 record. Gay led the Indians to the 4-AA Regional Championships and a No. 9 ranking in the state of Georgia. As a junior, Gay averaged 18 points leading her team to the AA Final Four with a 24-5 record. She also earned first-team All-State honors.
"Kim completes our signing class for the upcoming season," Baldwin-Tener said. "She is a very versatile player who has good size, along with great ball-handling & passing skills for a post player. As impressive as her stats were in high school, she has just scratched the surface as to how good she could be. We are looking forward to Kim having a great career in an East Carolina uniform."
"I am extremely excited about the class that we have put together for this upcoming season," Baldwin-Tener added. "Shuanda Ashford, Tiahana Bowens, Allison Spivey, & Kim Gay are all a great compliment to the players that we have returning. We are looking forward to continuing to build this program here at East Carolina and our 2007 signing class will help us do that."
