GREENVILLE, N.C. - All twelve of East Carolina's football games this season will be televised on a live basis after broadcast schedules were released and confirmed by WITN-TV and the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network Tuesday.
Coupled with the five previously announced on-air listings by ESPN and CSTV, the Pirates' remaining seven games were picked up by the local NBC affiliate and regional sports network to provide ECU fans with complete regular season television coverage for the first time since 1999.
WITN-TV, which continues its partnership with the school's athletics department as the Official Station of the ECU Pirates, will broadcast four games in 2007. Coverage will begin Sept. 15 at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium when East Carolina hosts Southern Miss in a 6:00 p.m. contest before televised road games follow at Houston (Sept. 29), Memphis (Nov. 3) and Marshall (Nov. 10).
MASN, the first regional sports network in the mid-Atlantic area owned by two Major League Baseball franchises - the Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles - will offer exclusive live broadcasts of the Pirates' three remaining games against UTEP (Oct. 13), UAB (Oct. 27) and Tulane (Nov. 24). To accommodate the selection by MASN to air the Pirates' home contest against the Blazers, the kickoff time has been pushed back to 3:30 p.m. from its original 3:00 p.m. slot.
In addition, MASN will join ESPN Regional in carrying ECU's tilt at West Virginia live as part of its Big East Football Game of the Week package while also presenting contests against Virginia Tech, Southern Miss, Houston, Memphis and Marshall on a tape-delayed basis to subscribers from Harrisburg, Pa. to Charlotte, N.C.
MASN is available to all cable carriers throughout a seven-state territory, which includes approximately 700,000 households in North Carolina. Service is currently featured on Antietam, Armstrong, Atlantic, Bay Country, Charter, Clearview, Comcast, Cox, DirecTV, Dish, Easton, FirstCom, KUHN, Mediacom, Metrocast, Millennium, Ntelos, OpenBand, RCN, Verizon, WDCA-TV and WJZ-TV.
Four of the Pirates' games in 2007 were selected for national broadcast earlier in the spring - Virginia Tech (ESPN), North Carolina (CSTV), UCF (CSTV) and N.C. State (CSTV).
