GREENVILLE, N.C--Ten home contests and a trip to New York highlight the 2007 East Carolina women's soccer schedule, released on Thursday by school officials.
The Pirates will play four teams that participated in the 2006 NCAA Tournament. Old Dominion, UAB, SMU and Colorado College played in the postseason.
ECU will also renew four regional rivalries. The Pirates will travel to Charlotte (Sept. 2) before hosting Old Dominion (Sept. 7), Furman (Sept. 9), and UNC Wilmington (Sept. 23).
The Pirates begin the C-USA portion of the schedule on Oct. 5 as the team travels to Hattiesburg, Miss. to take on Southern Miss.
"I feel that our non-conference schedule will prepare us well for Conference USA matches," head coach Rob Donnenwirth said. "We have developed some very good regional rivalries and the team looks forward to these games. Our C-USA schedule is always tough. Five of our nine C-USA opponents have qualified for the NCAA Tournament over the last two years and there are others knocking on the door."
The Pirates will officially open the 2007 season when they host High Point on Aug. 31 at Bunting Field. ECU will then travel to Charlotte as the team takes on the 49ers in a 1:00 p.m. match. The Pirates will then play five of their next seven games in the friendly confines of Bunting Field.
