
Lady Pirates Recieive Preseason Recognition

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's basketball team, predicted to finish fourth in Conference USA, received a vote in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Top 25 poll, released on Wednesday by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
The Lady Pirates represent one of three C-USA programs that garnered at least one vote in the poll as defending champion UTEP received nine while 2008 C-USA Tournament Champion SMU accrued two. The Miners qualified for the second round of the 2008 NCAA Tournament while the Mustangs were knocked out in the first round.
Additionally, head coach Sharon Baldwin-Tener announced that East Carolina will host Southern Wesleyan, a NAIA-affiliated university from Central, S.C., in an exhibition game inside Minges Coliseum on Saturday, Nov. 8.
The Lady Pirates and Warriors will tip off at 7:30 p.m. after the East Carolina football team's Homecoming contest at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium against Marshall at 3:30. Southern Wesleyan began its season at home on Nov. 4 and defeated Toccoa Falls College (Ga.), 93-42 inside Tysinger Gymnasium.
