
McCarthy Named Honoary Chairman For Live Health Greenville Campaign

GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina Head Basketball Coach Mack McCarthy has been named honorary chairman for the 2009 Live Healthy Greenville campaign presented by the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce and Physicians East.
"I'm really excited to be a part of the Live Healthy Greenville program," said McCarthy. "I am sure I'm like a lot of folks who should be more conscious of their health and find lots of reasons not to exercise and eat right. This initiative has a real possibility to impact people's lives and lifestyles."
LHG is a 100-day, team-based weight loss and physical activity program that helps participants make positive changes that lead to a healthier lifestyle through increased physical activity and improved nutrition. Co-workers form teams that track weight-loss and/or minutes of activity during the challenge, by reporting their progress on a weekly basis at www.livehealthygreenville.org. Teams consist of 2-10 people with a team captain and a team name. The entry fee is $18 per participant.
As a part of Live Healthy Greenville, each team member will receive weekly fitness and nutrition e-mails, access to fitness and nutrition information through www.livehealthygreenville.org, a magazine subscription of your choice and a training t-shirt.
This past yearmore than63,000 people, over 250businesses and organizations participated in the team-based Live Healthy America program. Participants teamed up to losemore than250,000 pounds of weight and log136 million minutes of physical activity.
