East Carolina Head Coach Mack McCarthy
"I wasn't really happy with the game overall. Our effort was pretty good, but we didn't accomplish what we wanted to accomplish. I thought it was a rather uninspired first half and that comes back to me, I am supposed to be the inspirer. I obviously didn't really have them ready to play. Young people sometimes make up there own mind about the opponent and they made a mistake tonight. They didn't get ready to play mentally and it showed. We weren't as sharp as we needed to be. We still overpowered them and did enough good things, but we didn't have that edge we played with in the first seven games."
On Match Up Issues Against A Smaller Team
"That continues to be an issue, although pretty soon it's going to be an issue the other way. We're going to be the small team and the other team is going to be the big team. Then we will have another adjustment to make. Hopefully we can get everybody back. Chad had complications from a cold and wasn't feeling good. DaQuan is still out, we weren't at one hundred percent and it disrupted our rotation again. But I don't know if that had anything to do with the start we got off to. We had some easy plays early and I think we just thought this was going to be easy, and it's never easy. You have to play every possession, against everybody, whether you're talking about NC State or Limestone, UNC Greensboro, or whoever."
On The Team's Focus
"I don't think they were over confident, but I do think that they lacked focus. That's a concern because were are not at the point where we can do that. We can't just overwhelm people with talent. We have got to be ready and sharp and play with a little edge to us and we didn't do that tonight. I thought we had done that almost every single game until tonight."
On Having Four Players In Double Figures
"That's a big difference between this team and the past several teams. There are more answers to our problems and that showed again tonight. We do have more ways to move the game forward and to expand the lead or get the lead."
