Postgame Quotes
East Carolina Head Coach Mack McCarthy
"Everybody played really hard tonight. We only had a couple people who didn't play as well as they could play. I just thought we were really solid and the biggest thing I liked about tonight was we rebounded the basketball against a team that was bigger at every spot on the floor."
"[Not having to depend on just one or two guys] makes all the difference in the world. We can't rely on just on the jump shot. We can't rely on getting out in transition, so we have to do some other things."
"We've really worked hard with little tangible results. You hate to lose, but you really hate to lose by those kind of margins. It was frustrating for our guys, but they put it all behind them, busted their butt in practice (Monday) and I really think that day, we won this game."
SMU Coach Mat Doherty
"For me, personally, coming back to North Carolina and playing in front of friends and family, you want to do well. If you don't play well then it gets embarrassing."
"We were awful in the first half. Some of it is credit to East Carolina, but most of it was because we just weren't sharp. It is frustrating."
Senior Cory Farmer
"Everything was falling tonight. We came out and played our hardest. We are just trying to get ready for the conference tournament"
"[Saturday night against Houston] is going to be a real emotional game for me. We are going to try to play our hardest and try to come out with the win."
Sophomore John Fields
"The whole team was clicking. Everybody contributed and it feels good to be on the other side of a victory."
