Greenville, S.C. -- East Carolina carded a three round team total of 37-over-par 901 (300-294-207) to finish 12th at the 39th annual Furman Intercollegiate held at the par 72, 6,800-yard Furman University Golf Course this weekend.
ECU junior Andre Thorsen finished tied for 16th with six-over-par 222 (71-74-77). Sophomore Tanner Briele finished one stroke behind his teammate tied for 20th (77-71-75=223). Tripp Brizendine fired an 11-over-par 227 (74-74-79=227) to finish tied for 48th.
Jonathan Hodge (69-73-71=213) carded a final round 71
to claim individual medalist honors and help Chattanooga edge Clemson
(292-291-294=877) by three strokes to claim the title.

Hodge, tied for second entering the final round, finished one stroke ahead
of Vanderbilt's Jon Curran (71-72-71=214) and two strokes in front of
third place Roberto Diaz (72-74-69=215) of USC Aiken.
The Mocs
(287-291-296=874), who captured their first Furman Intercollegiate title,
led at the conclusion of all three rounds.

South Carolina (290-294-298=882) finished third while Western Carolina
(295-302-291=888) and Vanderbilt (293-301-294=888) rounded out the top
five in a fourth place tie at 24-over-par.


The start of the final round was delayed until 11:45 a.m. after second
round play had to be completed on Sunday morning due to Saturday's play
being suspended by darkness.
