GREENVILLE, N.C. - After the 2008 East Carolina football players lace up their cleats for their first official practice Friday night, they will be exiting a professional, stylish and amenity-laden upgrade to their home away from home as the Sloan-Styers Football Locker Room will open its doors on Aug. 1.
The 4,291-square foot renovation project, completed during the spring and summer months at a cost of $342,000, includes 125 custom-made lockers made of natural finish wood veneer and solid wood edges. Additional features inside the Ward Sports Medicine Building facility include a quality, commercial carpet with a purple hue and a large centered in-laid Pirate head logo, a walled-mural which contains Coach Holtz' yearly-themed slogans and six overhead flat-screen televisions.
The Pirates kickoff fall camp Friday at 8:45 p.m. in preparation for their first game of the season against Virginia Tech. The contest, which will be played in Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. on Aug. 30, will be broadcast nationally on ESPN beginning at 12 noon.
