Through a sleek, simple interface ESPN360.com gives consumers control over their broadband sports viewing experience - providing reliable, television-quality video and the ability to pause, rewind and fast-forward live events - similar to digital video recorder functionality. With the ability to deliver up to 12 simultaneous live events, fans are able to view the event of their choice in a main viewing window, while other events continue to play in smaller, live-action thumbnails. Video can be viewed in 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratio and can be expanded to full screen or reduced to a compact size, and recently completed events are also available for replay.
ESPN360.com also features select events in HD streaming. Utilizing technology similar to that which has allowed ABC.com to deliver HD streaming of on-demand hit programs to millions of viewers, ESPN360.com has advanced the quality and consumer experience of watching live sports via a broadband connection. HD streaming content is encoded at a bit rate of more than 2 Mbps.
