GREENVILLE, N.C. -- The East Carolina men's basketball team took time out of its busy preseason schedule to make its annual visit the to Firetower Road Boy's and Girl's Club after-school program Thursday as part of its community service efforts.
The Pirates could be seen all over the facility, playing ping-pong, foosball and billiards with the children, along with signing autographs.
"It's very important that we come out here and spend some time with these kids," junior Brock Young said. "It gives us a chance to give something back to the community and to make a difference in a young kid's life. We want to be positive role models off the floor for these kids."
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Pitt County serve more than 2,000 children and have programs designed to develop the youth of the community through education, positive learning, experience with others and wholesome, participative activities.
