
Edwards Named To CAA Anniversary Team

RICHMOND, Va. --- Former East Carolina forward Theodore "Blue" Edwards has been named to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men's Basketball Silver Anniversary Team as selected by a panel of current and former head coaches in the conference.
Edwards was named 1988-89 CAA Player-of-the-Year with a league-leading scoring average of 26.7 points per game, fifth-highest average in the nation that season. At the end of the season, Edwards was taken by the Utah Jazz as the 21st pick of the National Basketball Association (NBA) Draft.
During his two-year playing career, Edwards rewrote the ECU record book, putting his name in virtually every category. He finished his Pirate career eighth in career points, first in career field goal percentage, 10th in career free throw percentage, sixth in career field goals made, seventh in career free throws made, third in career steals, tied for seventh in career blocked shots and eighth in career assists. For his career he averaged 20.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

The CAA was formed in 1983 as the ECAC South basketball league and reorganized as the CAA in 1985 when it added championships in other sports. ECU was one of eight charter members of the CAA that included American, George Mason, James Madison, Navy, Richmond, UNC Wilmington and William & Mary.
